Why Turbo cars Shooting so many fireballs?
I was just wondering how and why turbo cars tend to shoot flames out of there exhaust when racing. Is this due to running rich while racing and the exhaust turbine being so hot it ignights the un burnt fuel? thats all I could come up with please explane Thanks!

I shot one fireball, it was early morning.. and running rich... i shifted at 8k going into third.. I saw a flash behind the car... and the lady that tried to cut me off, slowed wayyyyyyy down... LOL
running rich + cold outside = fireball
running rich + cold outside = fireball

For me, it's easy to shoot flames...or backfire real loud at least. I just step on the gas real hard so that boost builds up rapidly. Then when boost builds, I let go of the gas quickly, then boom! Lots of unburnt fuel. Works most of the time. Usually when I redline first and quickly shift into second I can hear it too. I guess I can blame this on not having a cat and the vortech 12:1 fmu?

I get one everytime i hold the car on the 2 step and then let it go. Also when i shift from 3rd to 4th because i dont let off the gas and usually smack the rev limiter a split second.

Damn.. the vids play like crap for me. It's not very smooth. Maybe it's only me? I doubt my computer isn't able to handle it.

All that popping you hear when you shift is from running lean. Around here, we call it a 'lean out pop'...As for blowing fire, you should not be blowing fire for any reason. I don't know the entire reason behind it, but I would assume running rich at the higher rpm range would account for part of the reason.

Actually, you can be running rich and do the same. I'm running extremely rich and I can make exhaust pops while decelerating. It has to do with gas pulses resonating through the exhaust pipes.

So, Running rich + Strait Pipes + high RPM shifting will cause fireballs. I would like to shoot some safely, other than melting my bumper , To my cars engine. Ne tips to shooting flames? (other than some sparkplug in exhaust BS!)

I hate to use this quote but thoes engines last extremely long for their ware and tare put on them. For instance the daytona 500 puts the equvilent of 10 years driving under normal conditions in just a few hours. and most finish the race w/o engine problems.
