Default FMIC on N/A??

lets talk colder air here.

what if you were to mount a FMIC to your N/A lude. the intake side (normally from the turbo) would have a pipe going back into the engine bay attaching to your Filter. then you would have your normal Up pipe going to the IM.

would this be worth it?
would it be too much piping for the air you would be getting?
would you have to worry about condensation due to the FMIC creating colder air?

i know that yes, of course it is possible, but it is like doubling the leingth your McDonalds straw to your tripple thick milk shake. is there enough inital suction from the engine to create the proper vacuum? or would you have such horrid hesitation from it that it would not work?

the reason i am thinking this is because then you would be able to keep the filter in the engine bay and away from water. alleviating the possibility of Hydro-Lock.

i really don't think it would be worth it...you would lose tremendous suction power and all the bends would decrease the flow of the air so you would have a lot of hesitation and power lose. IMO, I think it would be better just to create an airbox with a SRI - i think that's a better way to avoid hydrolock and keep air temperatures low.

It would be very detrimental to your motor.

All it would do is restrict the heck out of airflow.

The best thing you can do is draw air form a colder location, keep the piping from getting too hot (ceramic paint or wrapping), build a cold air box, keep the intake manifold cold (CO2 sprayer or Hondata IM gasket), keep engine bay temps down (header wrap, not very effective w/ filter outside of engine bay), and maybe nitrous, since it really cools down the aircharge.

Sorry man, an IC on a n/a car just isn't feasible!

I would like to see a dyno on that; seems like a good idea, but will it justify the cost?

yeah, but then water can get into it. and that would be just another form of ram air. i am talking about an IC because it will always make colder air and hydro lock wont be an issue

how does this c02 compare to n2o? is it as cold or colder? you think thisa system can be adapted to n2o, since i have enough stuff laying around to make like 3 kits.

how much would a ten pound bottle of c02 cost to fill.

I believe that CO2 is about as cold as N2O when it comes out; the reason people use CO2 when cooling things in the engine bay is b/c it is MUCH cheaper than nitrous.
