(Please read) All motor B16 power....Need help to get 200 WHP
I have a b16a in an 89 crx. I want a daily driven sleeper. I figure if I can get 200 to the wheels it will be fast enough to line up with anything on the road and at least give them a run!!! I have been toying with the project ideas now for some time. I need some help in making the right choices. I considered the ls/vtec or cr-vtec. But, I'm worried that the engines will self destruct. I thought about just buying a ITR block from Acura and bolting on the B16a head. Of course any one of these motors will need good head work. But that just brings me to more questions. What would be the best cam for the applications? I'm having trouble deciding because I want to do it right the first time. OR!!! Do I just buy a prepared block from IB? Any thoughts????? Any help would really be appreciated!!!
I was wondering what the thought was on VAF-C's as a tuning source too. Or do I just go for something like Hondata?

its not that there ignoring you its just that there are like five other posts about this search.....and 200 whp on a b16 is pretty damn hard, takes alot of good parts and some thought.......ctr pistons. skunk 2 stage 2 cams.good headwork.dtr header.and other stuff....
Thanks for your reply. I'm wondering if I should get a (Hondata), rechipped ecu, or VAF-C? Mid to low 13's is great. I'm sure that will keep my interest for a little while. Question about the header "DTR". I've never heard of this header before. is it better than an edlebrock? I'm under the impressing that they are the bench mark for reasonably priced headers.
There is a dyno somewhere in the archives of a b16B (CTR motor) makin 185 with pretty much CAI, ANR header (reasonably priced, and makes good power i guess) and exhaust.
Im Makin 189 WHP and 134 TQ. Just a b16 block stock internals,Type R head injectors STR fuel rail, FPR(55 psi WOT) B16 Intake Manifold ICEman CAI MSD Digital 6 plus ignition. AEM cam gears +3 In -2 Ex JDM DC 41 Test pipe Apexi N1 catback S2 chipped P28. Getting ready for my UR race pulley and ANR header. Hoping to break 200 WHP. my best run so far is 13.9@ 99.21mph with a 2.2 60ft on Kumho Ecsta Supra's

How high are you revvin that B16 and what kind of car is it in?

If you want to do it right sleeve the block, for a B series to make power you will need RPM and lots of it. When u run more RPM u need more compression and bigger cams, compression means higher cylinder pressure that + RPM will make short work out of your sleeves and/or rods. Buying a new block from Acura is crazy, a sleeved bored B16 block will make 1.7l with better R/S ratio, be much stronger take more rpm and make more power. I just bought a sleeved, bored and o-ringed B18a block with closed deck design, the possibilities are endless. Turbo or N/a daily driven it can run 11s, N/a will not roast the tires all through 3rd gear.
I like the B16. It has a great r/s ratio, it breathes really well, takes endless rpms, and the aftermarket for it is huge.
A friend of mine knew this one guy that had one in his 90 integra. It had a few bolt ons and he had the rev limiter set at 10k. He ran 13.9 shifting that high but, it blew that engine after a few runs.

jdmlifestyle i had those exact hp and torque figures on my jap spec type r with hondata and 310 cc injectors, and ran 12.95@106.My 90 crx weight in at 2350lbs with me in it.
I think the dyno you used must have been slightly elevated,as you mph are very poor for those dyno results.
Just my opinion!
Anyone who achieves 200 whp on an unstroked B16 is a god in my book!!!!!!!!!1

Lamina RX- what tranny where you using. did u have drag radials or slicks. what was your ignition set at. just curiosity. im not sure how acurate the dyno is but its the only dyno in my area. im thinking about having it seriously tuned down in FT wayne.
what bout a compression motor
like 14 and above and cams thats easy to break 200 or 220 for that matter! does that make me god
just playin wanted to know lol u said non stroked not non touched block

racerboyb18c if you can put anything over 12to 1 compression into an unstroked B16a
you are god!!!!Physically imposible, the dome would be so big it would hit.
And please if someone has done it respond. Not if your friend did it .I would like to here from a physical wittness.

huh? if you can get 12:1 CR from a b18c5 what's so hard about doing it in a b16? Obviously the stroke is different but they make 12:1 CR pistons for b16's. They have pretty big valve reliefs but it can be done. CTR pistons and a decked head get you there pretty easily. It's been done before.

You would need at least positive 10 cc dome to acieve 12:1 on a B16a motor, your valve to piston clearance would be very unsafe at high rpm.Any way to each his own.
By the way I run an xsi 4.4 final drive transmission with lsd and M/T 22-8-15
An ls vtec(1.8 /type r head) with type r pistons in the ls block give you 11.2:1 comp.
our last setup like that did not get dynoed but ran 13.01@111 mph in a 91 crx with M/T
22-8-15,and was spinning them right through 2nd gear.(hondata) and str 68 mm throttle body and of course a type r transmission in a 93 housing
