one last thing. i installed a fuel pressure gauge along with the regulator. at idle i am running about 44 psi but when i give it gas i am running about 52 psi. so should i gauge my psi when i am on the throttle or at idle.

At idle, with the vacuum hose off of the regulator and folded over shut so it doesn't produce a vacuum leak, which can affect the gauge reading.
The 52psi of fuel pressure you're reading is probably at approximately atmospheric pressure...almost 14.7psi absolute (~100kpa). You might or might not have gotten the manifold pressure to or above atmospheric pressure at full throttle.
The fuel pressure with the FPR vacuum-reference hose off and pinched should be the same as the fuel pressure with manifold pressure equal to atmospheric.
Make sense?

hell no. i adjusted the regulator and then put the hose on and read the guage. if i fold the hose over the car starts to rev really high.
