Default Y1 transmission leaking badley

Well, I am right in the midle of my turbo install, and my tranny has been leaking steadily since I bought the car. It looks to me that it is leaking from the shifter input, going into the transmission. Is there a relatively easy way to fix this without dropping the transmission? Anyone ever has a leak in this perticular spot?

Thanks

Rob

Its quite simple and can be done with the tranny in the bay. Its just an O-ring type gasket. Disconnect the shift linkage and drain the tranny. Grab some needle nose/screwdriver and pull/pry the old gasket out. Then either use a punch or the correct size deep socket and pound the new seal back in. Reconnect linkage, refill tranny and bam.

Does it look kinda like a black plastic thing? the one on it right now is sticking out about 1/4 of an inch, could this be the problem? Actually I would have no problem at all with replacing it, where is a good place to order on online (im lazy) and what is it called. Thanks so much for the reply, you made me feel allot better that its not something big

Thanks

It is a cylindrical shaped seal. It sticks out. Pull it out and slide a new one on making sure you don't fold the thing back on itself or pop out the tension spring inside the seal. Majestic Honda also seals acura parts check their website or go to a dealer.

Id try popping the part thats sticking out back in and see what happens. As for the technical name I'm not sure, and after a brief search on majestic and acuraparts it didnt have a good diagram of it. Your best bet would be to go to a dealership and just tell them you need the gasket on the shifter input shaft or shift linkage. They'll bring up diagrams and be able to point it out. Shouldnt be more than $5.

Edit : As stated above the entire part does stick out, I understood what you said as to be only 1 part was sticking out, like unevenly, but yeah, go to a dealer and they'll get you the right part.

They stick out of the tranny casing when they are fully seated. Go buy the part and replace after you have already spent the time getting the damn bitch pin out in the first place.

The oil seal your talking about is #23. It goes for $4.27. You can use one off a CRX or Integra. To remove it grab it with some pliars then hit the pliars with a hammer. It will pop out with a few good hits. If your car is lowered I'd look at the bottom of the tranny case to see if it has bottomed out. Mine was leaking very bad a few months ago. The tranny bottomed out and cracked the case. Luckily my buddy has a MIG welder and he welded the crack up. No more leaks. BTW the tranny had to be totally disassembled. Just a heads up.

To weld up the crack on the clutch housing. You could only see the crack form the inside of the case. I was just saying make sure you haven't bottomed it out. It is real easy for the tranny to bottom out if your car is lowered. Just something to check.

well i have a part number 91215-689-013 this is the seal that goes behind the bellows where the shift linakge connects to the tranny, i have had the same problem on my car since the swap, the part number i listed is for a 91 integra LS tranny so i dont know if it is the same as yours but yeah......i dont think my tranny case is cracked as it looks as though the leak is coming from the area where the linkage connects to the tranny
