Icon2 leaking from shift linkage on gsr tranny

i got a big leak comming from where the shift linkage connects to the tranny,
and the when i let off the gas in gear i can hear the gears running. i filled it up but the leak is to big, so it just pours out in about an hour. what should i do to fix leak and stop this? the labor for a transmission shop is about the same as a new tranny. help?

replace the seal on the car, which seal? would i have to drop the tranny to fix this? or is is it a direct fix where the shift linkage connects?

Well, I would think you would replace the seal that was leaking on the transmission and not the valve cover gasket/seal.

If it is the shift shaft seal, just remove the pin, drop the linkage, remove and install. It may be an axle seal also...either will be done in the car.

Basic hand tools and jack stands you will have both jobs done in an hour or so.

I sure hope its from the shift selector and not from the stabilizer linkage....

If its from the selector, you just replace the seal...

If its from the stabilizer, you'll either have to get the hole welded shut or buy a new tranny case.
