Transmissions problem? Maybe Clutch? Who knows?
A couple months ago my 95 civic ex tranny was grinding so instead of cracking it open and replacing the syncros I put a 97 civic dx tranny in (1.5 non vtec) to the 1.6 vtec. My gears wear much longer so I had to stay in lower gears to get up to speed. Then my clutch went out so I replaced that. Recently the car has been making grinding noises during acceleration and deceleration and even in idle except when I press in the clutch. I took the tranny off and replaced the throw out bearing and even replaced my old axles. Its still making the same noise and become louder. To me it sounds like the noise is coming internally from the transmissions near the passenger side motor mount. Everyone I ask says something different. I have no idea what is wrong please help.
Probably the diff bearings or the bearings on the mainshaft, I have 3 transmissions that all sound like that. You can quiet them down a little with a heavier oil or some Synergen I think it's called, might prolong their life for a few more miles.
