ok i did a search on heli coils.. all i do is buy a kit w/ the drill bit, tap, and coil spring. then drill the hole out, tap it, put the coil thingy in, and then screw the original bolt in right? if thats it, anyone know where i can get a kit for a 12mm bolt?

Well first off NAPA auto parts sells the Helicoil kits which include everything but the drill bit and tapping oil..you can usually buy those also at NAPA...make sure you buy the EXACT drill bit the Helicoil kits specifies. I did my intermediate shaft bracket that bolts into the engine with the Helicoil and so far it is working great!!
PS....I have also heard that Timesert's are a better insert than Helicoils....you might want to check them out too?

I just wanted to repeat the comment a couple posts ago;
You HAVE to use the exact size drill called out in the kit!!!!! Plan on getting one from a shop that sells machine shop stuff. It's normally a size that isn't stocked by places like auto parts stores or home depot.

Get the time serts. I've picked up an engine blocks with stripped bolt holes for the motor mounts and tranny. The timeserts use a nice sleeve and when you look at their design, trust me your mind will be put a ease as far as their torque holding capacity goes.
