Default SERIOUS h22 turbo manifold problem!!!

heres my problem....i was putting the wastegate on and i didnt have the original scews so i bought some...when i was installing them one of the screw's head broke off and the screw was stuck in the manifold, flush w/ it...so then i figured i would just drill it out and retap it...well i was doing that and then the drill bit broke off into the manifold...well i said **** it and went to the other side...i drilled it out to the size for the tap and while tapping it the tapping bit broke off into the mani....i was extremely pissed off, and left it there to sit....what can i do to retap the 2 holes for the wg??

wow sounds like you broke a serious amount of stuff, if i were you i would just nut and bolt it. redrill out that tap, and then get some grade 8 hardend nuts and bolts that are the size you need and use that. screw trying to thread the mani. i mean maybe my answer is a bit over simplified, but thats how im gonna do it on my setup

there are shops that specialize in removing, fixing bolts and retaping holes. A lot of the time a machine shop will do this but i was once referred to a specialist that did this specifically .. if your in nor cal i can refer a place.

the other option is get an extractor. All you have to do is drill a small hole, like 3/8" typically, and get he extrator down in there. It's pretty much a long slightly coned drill bit with threads the opposite way. When it starts to "drill" down into the bolt, it grabs on really tight and causes the bolt to spin back out. You can grab one at sears

I agree, the extractor is your best bet.

Yeah don't get the shitty kind they sell at places like Home Depot. The ones at HD are round where the drill connects. You get it in there and the chuck can't hold the thing tight enough. The ones at Sears that Gude linked you to have a hex in the middle. Also they have a drill on one side and the extractor on the other. Costs a lot more but much better Quality.

Dude. Breathe.
Take a day off before you re-attempt your installation.

the exact same thing happened to a buddy of mine when he was putting a new manifold on his Talon TSi. the extractor would be your best bet. he took his to a machine shop and the ended up having to do a heli-coil (i beleve thats what its called)
