Default my sound system, are Alpine Type R subs good?

in my 2000 Civic coupe

Alpine CDA 9811 headunit [23 watts RMS/50 watts peak x 4 channels]
Polk EX365 [6½ inch 60 watts RMS/180 watts peak (4 ohms)] front speakers
Polk dB690 [6x9 inch 100 watts RMS/300 watts peak (4 ohms)] rear speakers

next I plan on getting either one or two Alpine Type R 10" subs.

I listen mostly to rock probobly 70% of the time, but then I also listen to rap like 30% of the time.

What would you recommend, one or two subs? What brand/type of amp? What type of box?

Type R subs are a good bang for your buck

What price range are you looking to go for the amp though?

Cuz you not only have to budget the subs...you've gotta budget the amp to power them too.

i'm thinking i'd want to get close to the 300watts rms the type r's can handle. i know a alpine mono ch. amp for $200 which could easily push a type r sub.

they are awesome. there was a kid at school that had 2 12s in a truck with a 200$ 1000 watt sony amp and you couldnt swallow a soda while it was on. im building a system with 3 type r 12s, 2 type r component sets, and some 8s(i wish alpine made type r 8s, any suggestions would be nice), 3 american bass amps for the subs, and my fosgate 700s for the highs. new alternator, here i come

cool. but what about the difference between 300 and 600 watts through 1 or 2 subs.

i know 300 watts of bass is already damn loud, especially for a tiny civic coupe. would the 600 even make a audible differance that is WORTH the money?
