Safe to run these subs
Well was just wondering is it good to run 2 type r subs running about 800 rms on stock batt and alt and what not no cap too also is Lanzar OPTI1400D a decent amp i can get 2 type r's box and that amp for 250
Need a model number of the type R subs.
Alpine Type R subs are 500W continuous, [RMS] so to drive them to their full potential you need a 1000W RMS amp into 2 or 4, [or 8] ohms, depending on the impedance of the Type Rs you have, DVC 2 ohm or DVC 4 ohm.
The Lanszar amp will do the job, at 1 ohm, [1x1311W RMS] would still sound OK at 2 ohms, [1x844W RMS] although underpowered by 150W, SQ would be better at 2 ohms, even with the lower power.
At a 4 ohm load you would be taking a risk of burning the subs VCs, [1x484W RMS] by constantly over-driving the amp.
If it is all working OK, $250 is fair, but the subs, box and amp must be in good working order and in good physical/cosmetic shape.
Rule of thumb is @ 500W RMS and above, upgrading the alt. is a good idea, it takes about 75A to produce 500W RMS, [about 125A to make 800W RMS] as you can see, even at 500W RMS you would be overloading your alt. 94

this is of course with atleast the big 3 being done, and maybe considering a upgraded battery. if not another new reliable stock replacement, a BIGGER battery. my car comes with a group 51. but i stuffed a group 34. doubled my CCA, and my AH burn.
