Apexi VAFC wiring help
k.... my buddy got a mini me...
hes using the PM6 ecu
he asked me to wire his VAFC...
so i went and did so....
i wired and soldered everything just like the VAFC manual said...
the only wired i left alone was the VAFC input for VTEC wich its supposed to come from the ecu.... but since our ecus are not VTEC i just left it alone..
on my SFC-VTEC i left it out and works fine
anywyas...... i set his vtec at 4800 and stuff. rpms and all other stuff works on the vafc
but vtec isnt kickin....
i tried the solenoid with a 12V+ and it clicks.....
i jsut wanted to know what has to be done it order to make it work.
did u guys have any wires left? how u wired urs?
some people around town say i have to GND the vtec input, some say u have to conect both input and output togheter to the solenoid.... i want input of people with them on a non vtec OBDO ecu...
thanxs a lot...
ps. i did a search already and nuttin here covers this specific issue
ps2. i installed another one on a del sol and worked fine... but on the OBDO seems not to make vtec kick...

yes its a OBDO car... i had to run a new wire to the vtec solenoid from the VAFC

yea it was a brand new one off ebay.. never opened or used

first off your wiring is problably wrong do it one wire at a time. get your vafc manual back out go to page 11 follow the directions EXACTLY. the VTM signal input will not be used. The directions dont tell you but both the positive and grounds have to be one cen. apart, atleast it did on mine. any more probs. let me know.
If everything is wired and installed correctly, all you need to do is run a wire from the vtec solenoid to the pink wire on the vafc harness. Dont worry about the vtec output on the vafc.
Have you tried monitoring vtec on the vafc? (VT. - ON/OFF) If not you should to see if the vafc is trying to activate vtec. maybe you could wire up a "vtec light" to see if it really is putting out the voltage to activate vtec. You could also wire up a ghetto switch to the vtec solenoid to try and manually activate it. If it still doesn't activate it could be a problem with the solenoid or maybe even the motor.

thats what i tought... and its the only one left alone from the whole deal...
but VTEC doesnt work

so your saying the vafc will activate the vtec, right. my understanding from apexi the vafc acks like an inline relay. may be they just left that part out. i dont know if it works hey great for you.
