Default turbo, or swap??

well, i have just about everything to turbo my d series engine, since it needs new rings (burning oil) i figure i could spend about 200 on new bearings, and new rings and throw on a turbo... or i could wait, save up and attempt to throw in one of the f- series motors i have laying around,.. yes not a practical swap but i have the engine and know alot about them.. and just about anything i would need to do the swap other then mounts.. the torque from a 2.2L in a CRX would be nice but i still would lack top end.. or go turbo on a d - series like 7-8 PSI at the track 5-6 daily.. and have the top end?.. which would be faster? i think both would have the same HP, about 150 or so to the flywheel.. opinions please, just don't say through in a b16 or something.. i don't have that engine and don't want to buy one, i'm doing one of the 2 i listed because i have most of the parts laying around already.. thanks

D's are probablt cheaper to repalce, and ahve more aftermarket support, so i would go with the D.

GSR swap = about 145whp stock - $3-4000
LS swap = about 125whp stock - $1500-2000
B16 swap = about 135whp stock - $2000-2500
SOHC w/greddy kit, stock everything w/blue box@ 7 psi = about 165-170whp - $1000 total! (in my case)

Boost the SOHC

BTW, it's just as reliable as when it was stock.
Do it once.
Do it right.
Do regular maintenance.
Leave it the **** alone.

Amen to that

I say boost the D. Nothing like the sound of a BOV going off to get the attention of everyone around you

am i the only one who thinks you should be somewhat original and throw in the F series. If u already have a turbo kit then what else would u need a different manifold?

boost the D. you can replace them for so cheap that it doesnt even matter if you blow it up.

true, but if it's your dd i say swap. you keep stock reliability, and get the power jump. if you are seriously considering a h22 as an option, I'm pretty sure a boosted d series can crest 200hp, but it probably wont retain the reliability, especially if you trounce your motor.

just my two cents

thanks for the replies i think i'e decidedto boost the d for now, and then throw in the f later on, maybe more people would have done the swap and it might be alittle easier...
