do you need a spring compresser to change your shocks or struts?
Yep, just go to Autozone and rent one. When I did, it was like $40, but you get all the money back when you return it.

I undid the upper "retainer" and the spring barely missed my face.
I made a seriously huge effort on the next 3 springs. I wasn't gonna take out the spring/strut combo but I ended up taking them off of the car in order to be safe. You could probably buy a set of spring compressors for what it takes to rent them...its worth it in the long run.
