quick question to everyone that has installed springs/shocks on their prelude. do i really need a spring compressor? when i installed springs/shocks on my friends impreza we didn't need one. the springs would only shoot off about 2-3 inches and they did it so slowly there is no way you could possibly hurt yourself doing it. so do i need to even waste my time renting one and using it?

 

didn't use one on mine.... just stand back, and have a clean floor to collect the stuff.
It was actually kind cool watching it shoot!

 

Unless you are very stupid-you WILL want to use a spring compressor for this project. Go to Autozone and they will rent you what you need. Make sure you get the kind that work on the outside-strut type. Anyone who tells you it is OK to do this any other way is flirting with grave injury. Nuff Said!

 

ok, if its compressed that much then i'll go ahead and get it. anyone have any clue why the imprezas springs aren't compressed hardly at all?

 

Don't even put springs on. Do it right the first time, and get coilovers

 

if i get coilovers i want TEIN and i don't have the money for those. i'm not that sold on many other coilover sets
