Default Can a timing belt be too tight??

just like the topic says......... i had to adjust my timing and didnt know if its possible for it to be too tight........... it runs fine but there is a slight whine coming from the belt/cam gear area. when i tightened the belt down i used a big flathead screw driver and applied pressure to the tensioner to make it tight........ thanx

I think you can be too tight. You just need it sung with little or no movement, you don't need to put too much tension on it.

your tensioner could be bad, as it is self adjusting....
