shifter wiggle...
'91 CRX Si, D16A6
Allright, so when the car is in gear the shifter will move side to side. I bought a short shifter and prothane shift stabilizer bushings, installed them and the problem isn't any better. I can tell a difference as far as the shifts being smoother and firmer... but the shifter will still move all the way over to where third should be while it's in first. My first gen CRX did the same thing. I've decided that it is probably something worn out in the transmission... which i wouldn't mind as i'm about to get a new tranny put in. I'm just curious if this is going to solve my problem.
thanks

the problem originates from where the shift linkage and trannie conect......thats just worn out...if you get a new trannie your problem will more than likley be gone....unless this new sumbitch has the same prob

Well, my friend has a '93 hb and it's got a really tight feeling shifter, but it's a hydro tranny... I didn't know if that had anything to do with it or what, until I drove my other friends '91 CRX and it felt fine.
I'm hoping that the new tranny will fix it...
Also, I'm gonna get a different short shifter, the one that I got (traded for some AEM brake pads that didn't fit) hits my exhaust. Plus the shifter isn't any shorter, the throws are... but the **** is the same height. I was expecting different.
Also, are you referring to the back and forth linkage, or the twisting linkage (using my own terminology here) because I put a poly bushing in the back and forth one.
thanks
