Default Anyone have oil starvation problems w/ stock oil pan?

Running b16a in an 89 civic. Car is going to be for road racing. I was wondering if any of you guys have oil starvation problems.... Is a mugen oil pan worth the 250 or is there some trick you guys use to keep the cost down. I know the Morosso is like 400 bucks or something like that. Do I even need either of these?

i'll second that "nope". i run an LS race motor in my H1. never any oil starvation; never seen the gauge dip below 65 psi whenever the motor is over 3500 rpm.

i keep the engine oil topped up to slightly overfull.

Tracking an ITR on track tires and never a problem with pick up or pressure, I just wish I didn't burn nearly quart every hour!

I run 0.5 +/- quarts over at the track, and have never seen the oil light come on.

I have had vtec cut in/out with the stock pan, but that is because i'm burning oil, and when the level is down a bit.....

I was thinking of doing a D and having my stock pan baffled, cept I can't weld. So i'll have to look into some welding services locally.

In, well...a LOT of track miles in my GS-R, I've never dropped out of VTEC due to oil starvation. Stock pan. I too keep it slightly overfull.

Okay, I have yet to hear the experts regarding this:

Mid-engine Mini (old style)
200hp (or thereabouts) H22A1
1600lbs race weight with driver
40/60 rearward weight distribution
Sticky street tires

Will the stock pan suck air on a road race track?

hi. that is going to be a mean mean track machine!!

Corey would know better than I, as he races a Prelude VTEC, but i believe that the H series motors are much more likely to starve for oil than the B series. i have seen corey drop out of VTEC at the track; i would assume that this was caused by oil slosh...

good luck with the Mini!!!

even with corey has said his motor is full/over-full he was starving last year in T8/T9 at slummit. I remember this conversation from the paddock:

Corey: Its cuttin' outta vtak
Yack: You gotta Add oil
Corey: Its full
Yack: Add oil
Corey: Its probably 1/2 qt overfull
Yack: Add oil
Corey: You sure?
Yack: Add oil

I don't burn that much oil.... but if there was excessive burning and longer sessions the level 'could' drop below a suitable level.

I know this has been previously beaten to death, but no one has mentioned an Accusump.
