Greddy SOHC kit
NGK BKR6ES plugs, gapped at .030"
greddy blue box
stock pump, injectors, pressure
7 psi intercooled on a sidemount
93 octane Holiday gas
I did a 3rd gear pull yesterday and starting around 4k rpm my engine started sounding like popcorn being microwaved. I was only on it for about two seconds, then I let off. I don't hear it in second gear, only third? My car runs perfectly fine, it only made that sound for two seconds yesterday. I'm thinking:
read plugs, replace as necessary
get a walbro 255lph intank (HP or non-HP?)
retard timing 1 deg. at distributor
anything else? I just want to make sure that I don't blow up my motor. I'm not going to race it till next season anyways, just a daily driver for now. Advice welcomed.

blue box isn't tunable, SOHC kit doesn't come with injectors - blue box is made to work with stock injectors.
look into that pump or retard timing. i have both and have run 10 with no problems. blue box, rc310s, aem fpr, walbro 255, 2 degrees retarded, NGK BKR6 plugs at .032, dsm 1g smic, profec b, apexi powerflow filter, 93 octane. no detonation thru-out the year at 7 psi daily.
what octane gas u running?

so retard timing 2 deg. at the dizzy, buy new plugs (BKR6E gapped at .030"), put in Gumout Regane FI cleaner and Walbro 255lph intank? anything else?

cool thanks, so it's a timing issue for sure, not from running lean?

k, I'll get the BKR6E's because the 7E's are overkill for my setup. I'll also retard the timing 1 deg. at the dizzy, but should I do 2 deg.? Hopefully that should fix the problem without having to buy a new fuel pump.
