i have a fully built z6 i want to turbo. i've had my eye on the greddy kit because it's carb legal and cheap. but i want a bigger turbo. so i was thinking that since greddy makes the 18g and the 15g, the flanges should be the same, right? the only other option was the ad on top for needboost.com. they have a great deal on their t-20 and t-25 kits with ic, bov, and everything. but i showed it to my dsm buddy and he said if the t-20 is anything like the stock ones on some dsms, it would be shitty. so if the needboost turbo is at least as big or bigger than greddy's, i would probably get that. if not i'd like to know if any of you guys know if thst 18g would fit on greddys manifold for the z6. thanx

 

The 18g won't fit on the mani for the 15g. The 18 uses a T3 style flange I think.

 

no the 18g has a t25 flange , at least the greddy 18g does

really? that doesnt make any sense

btw, 18g and 15g refer to the compressor side of the turbo, not the exhaust/turbine side.

the whole name for the greddy turbo for GSR is TD05H-18g. the "TD05H" part refers to the turbine side. i am pretty sure you can bolt a 18g compressor wheel and housing to a greddy turbo that came with a 15g compressor wheel.

i wish i could say for sure that they all have the same (t25) flange, but i forgot.

I don't know, hehe. I just used search and like 3 different people said the 15g and 18g use different flanges. Although somebody a long time ago told me the 18 would work on the sohc kit... Somebody confirm
The sohc kit comes with the TDO4H-15g
Dohc with the TDO5H-18G
So the TDO5H has to use a bigger flange right?

Very close to a t3, probably the same. I use to have Greddy 18g, and no way it's a 15g style flange. The compressor looks like a 60-1 cause of the 4 inch inlet.

 

I have personally seen the 15g on the greddy b-series manifold and it bolted right up.

I've read in a few threads on here that the turbos are interchangeable with the manifolds. Call Greddy and ask...lol.

 

so you think that the 18g would bolt up to the sohc manifold? i guess i'll call greddy and see if this can work. where do you guys think this size of a turbo would spool at on a sohc motor?

Nope. The DOHC kit uses a TD05 turbine, the SOHC kit uses a TD04 turbine, 18G compressor won't bolt up.

 

well i just talked to greddy. there is no upgraded turbo for the sohc kit, and the 18g won't bolt up to the sohc manifold nor the compressor wheel. so either i get stuck with this turbo wanting more, or i can find a bigger setup cheap like the greddy. any ideas guys?

 

u can always get the turbo ported n stuffed with bigger wheels. i seen that somewhere...not sure though

 

what about the 16g?

 

I'm almost possitive the SOHC manifold is a standard t3 flange.

 

could you just swap the manifold and get an sohc t3 mani with a t3 turbo and keep the rest of the set up? would that work? because its like 500 for a sohc t3 and matching mani.

that sounds like it could be a quick upgrade

I guess it would work. But that turbo is way too big for a sohc. And I dunno what manifold that is but I bet it'll crack. Those Ebay manifolds are weak. Maybe with some extra bracing? I dunno.
