Default LS/VTEC

hey guys, i have a b16 currently and am planning to go ls/vtec this winter for next summer

my question is how reliable are they? and what warnings/precautions should i take?

i'll be using a b18a bottom end and a b16a head midly built

any help would be awesome thnx

Search button, upper right hand corner.

Its your friend.

and just to answer your question, they are only as reliable as the builder builds them. skim parts and shorten life of your motor. be careful and build it up with the proper parts and it will be ok.

You have to use a B series Vtec oil pump and water pump. If you dont, It will not be reliable and I would not rev it past 7k with an LS oil and water pump.

wow good article chris 1.8 thnx

i alrady have a b16 in my car right now, so i shoudl already have the b16 oil pump and water pump eh? (might be a stupid question)

for ls/vtec how do you think pr3 pistons in the bottom LS block would be?

Yes, you have the oil pump and water pump which you will need to swap on the LS block. The PR3 pistons will raise your compression.

Yes.

PR4 pistion yield a 9.76 compression ratio
PR3 pistions yield a 11.63 compression ratio
