I ordered a jdm final drive and need to know if it will work with the stock diff in the 99-00 si tranny. Thanks

 

No, The B16 differential is smaller.

You need a GSR or ITR sized differential.

ive heard both sides from others as well

 

SGT aka steve sakai says it needs one as well. guess thats that, now that 2 very reliable sources have said so

 

99-00 s4c tranny's have the bigger ring gear and diff., just like the gsr/itr.
so yes it will fit

 

I just looked at 2 final drive ring gears I have. One is out of a 00 SI tranny, and the other from a 01 ITR tranny.

The ID of the ring gear is different on each. (rough measurments)

00 SI= 4.25"
01 ITR= 4.50"

I will post some pics I took later on.

gsr/itr diffs are one size and b16 diffs are differant... the 4. 7 will only fit on a itr or gsr sized diff... iv taken apart enough tranny's to be able to say im 110% sure

i already bought a gsr diff gear. couldnt afford the itr lsd at the moment because ive spent over $2000 in the last 3 weeks on my car

yep!
The hydro Y21 b16a tranny is the one that uses teh smaller diff/fd ring gear.

You sure those are pics of a 99+ Si fd ring gear and not a Y21 ?

You can fully tell the diff wont fit by from the Si picture by the spacing of the holes to the ITR diff mounting holes.

 

Katman, the picture of the SI ring gear is from a 99-00 SI B16 tranny.

I also just took a diff out of another 99-00 SI tranny and it is the same size as the one in the picture.

Both b16 ring gears I have are smaller and have different bolt spacing than my ITR and GSR's I have sitting around.

 

no it wont fit.

 

worst case scenario you would have to change out diffs

if you need a stock gsr diff lemme know

 

ive got the gsr diff and everything is going in next weekend
