vtec light
Has anyone tried making a vtec light? two wires and a 12v led .I tried this and it works i hooked one of the wires up to the vtec soleniod wire. and the other wire a ground. I would floor my car car and the light comes on at 4800, and when the slowly press the gas pedal, the light comes on at 6k. which means the vtec comes on at 6k.Could there be a problem with my ecu?
i'm not understanding what you mean by it comes on at 6k when you slowly press it?
i have a vtec light with only 2 wires. i have a hyper blue led, i had to use a resistor cuz there was too much current going through, so i blew like 2-3. found the correct resistor and now i'm runnign fine.
i spliced the green w/white stripe wire -> vtec power line. and at 5 grand it comes on. if i'm in first or 2nd or 3rd, and i do wide open throatle it comes on. i'm not sure if wide open throatle it comes on. cuz i thought vtec only works on wide open throatle. cuz it needs the extra air and fuel.
but 6K, do you feel the car pull/get louder when you do it slowly?

I meant when slowly pressing the gas pedal feathering the gas. Im not using a resistor vtec seems to be coming on fine with the vtec light. Yeah at wot the vtec kicks on at 4800 rpm's.
are you running a pr3 or a pw0 ecu?
if your running pr3 and tell me what gear you did it on, and i'll try it as soon as i get off work and i'll let you know if my light comes on at 6k or not
-> my pr3 is stock, not chipped yet.

hey slopok..sorry, in the late reply, yeah i tried it out...my light doesn't come on.. it only comes on at WOT. perhaps your vtec is working at that point. or maybe your point of connection for the vtec light is different than mine.
i ran my wire right at the ecu. so that could be different.

well u got something wrong...
my cousins B16... wich PR3 ecu converted to manual from auto kicks vtec at 5400.... and with or without WOT.... we can go into it and let gas go slowly.... and still kicks.... theres no way vtec will not activate by lettting the gas go a lil...
anyways all u need its a car bulb.... pep boys sells a nice red one... one side of bulb to GND and the other one tapped into the green/white wire off the solenoid

vtec shouldnt' kick in if its not WOT.
think about it, that would defeat the whole purpose of having vtec than.
vtec is to give you gains in the higher rpms with the sake of not sacrificing too much gas. and i dont' think it'll open a little bit if you slowly gas it, when vtec opens up both intake lobes at the same time, you'll just be killing the gas.

The Vtec crossover point at partial throttle is 6k...If you are at WOT it should come on at around 4800 or 5200
If you have a Vtec controller... the Vtec will kick in at whatever you set it at, regardless of the pedal location.

unless you have it chipped or something different than oem, it should come on at 5200 rpm right?
my spoon vtec controller shows mine kickin in right at 5200rpm when its turned up as far as it can go, which is the stock changeover point (im pretty sure)

So you have the spoon vtec controller, how's it working for ya? i tried to get one on ebay they go fast for some reason jdm i guess. So does the spoon vtec controller just plug and play right? Are you running a pr3 ecu?
