pulling ecu codes on 97 accord??? how to please..
hey everyone.. never worked on many accords im a fan of civics and integras.. anyways got a friend of mine that is a girl and she has no clue why her CEL is on.. i went to look for the harness where it is on civics and integras and it wasnt there.. where do i short the service connector to get the flashing CEL?? is it right on the ecu under the floorboard or somewhere else?? thanks
'97 is OBD-II, so you won't be able to pull the OBD-II codes without a scan tool, which will run you about $150 or so. However you can pull the basic 2 digit codes using a jumper wire. Pull the ashtray out and you'll see the 16 pin connector in there, and there will also be a 2 wire connector attached to it. Pull that 2 wire connector out, jump the 2 wires with a jumper, and turn the key to 'on'. If there's any basic codes the CEL will flash out the code(s). If you get nothing, then you'll either have to buy a scan tool or take it to someone

Don't if that's what you're talking about but I think it could help
Deciphering the code requires reading the light sequences. When the car is in the ON position, the check engine light emits two different flashes; a long extended flash means 10, and a rapid flash means 1. So, one long flash, another long flash, followed by 3 quick flash stands for...................23! Equipped with that information, here are the codes for the '92-'00 Honda and '94-'00 Acura.

Maybe this picture will help some.... (I know it's blurry as f**k, but you can kinda make out the pictures)
I can't speak from personal experience, but it looks as if this little connector is actually part of what makes up the 16 pin OBD-II connector, along with another plug. You have to actually take the diagnostic plug out and unplug this from the back of that plug.
