Default Boosted D16a6 How hard should I lean on my stock engine???

Going to dyno the car again on thursday, with racegas 114oct and and pump93oct 50/50 mixed. Last time with a smaller turbo I was pushing 196whp@10psi ....
Now I have a Ballbearing IHI VF22 ( comes from the older subaru STI's) I will see what its producing at 10psi I am hoping for another 10whp at least, I am thinking about bumping the boost upto 12psi. Which probably will see around 220-230whp. Who thinks this is a good idea????

hey I was going to run that very same turbo on my Z6, did you get it from turbo panda?

any pics of it on the ride? it has some stange flanges and would not work with the manifold I was using, I'd really like to hear how this thing responds to the D.

ohh and I def think that you should run it at 10PSI. as long as it's tuned for the turbo upgrade that is

boost it to 12psi and use straight race gas for extra insurance..

BTW..you dont have a converter right?

No I didn't get from turbo panda, the turbo has been modified a bit: wastegate has been ported with a new flapper attached, end float has been taken out of the shaft with a with a light port to help the oil flow down to the drain (apparently theres a ridge where oil can sit in them)and has had the compressor housing HPC'd.

Just like Turbo Panda I am using a Link piggyback controller with 3 extra injectors the unit has its own MAP sensor and does adjust timing on boost where needed.

Basic setup VR4 mitsi galant intercooler 2inch intercooler piping, 2.5in turbo back exhaust no CAT. Tubular mani made from steam pipe close to equal length. Anymore response on whether 12psi is smart on the D16a6. Oh yeah its all in a G2 teg.

Its begins to spool around 3000rpm feels like its making good power by 4500, it actually reasonably laggy for a Ball Bearing turbo they call the Lag monster for WRX's for monster tune only baha.... I paid about $500 US.

Well I am going to give it a go I'll 10psi first then 12psi if it starts detonating I'll add more race gas to try and stop it..

I'd say stay at 10psi until you get a reasonable IC.
BB doesn't mean more effecent, just spools faster...
Galant Ic isn't idea at all... a dsm side mount would be a much better choice vs the galant VR-4 one...

My buddy's running 10psi on a t3/t4e 50 trim on his stock Z6 motor with 140k. It's even running the hack with a ~4 degree retard at the dizzy, and we know what the hack does to timing . But anyway.. no detonation / problems so far! Crank up the boost.

We are talking about different intercoolers I'm sure, the VR4 I am referring to is for the JDM they are a 4wd 2L turbo sedan they are nice intercoolers for a stock. They certainly look a lot better then those side mounted DSM ones anyway. Ps BB turbos generally are more efficient they don't heat the air up so much because they spin more freely. I hope I have nice things to report on thursday

The Galant VR-4s here are AWD 4g63 powered turbos too ( the only DSM built in Japan ). They kick *** here, but maybe I have the IC mixed up with another one or something, I was told from the guy I got it from that it came out of a Galant VR-4... My e-mail is bleveret@tampabay.rr.com if you have some pics... I have a pic of the IC i'm talking about, but I don't know how to post a pic on this forum... But I can e-mail it to you if you want...
