Default TD05H: 14b turbo questions and 1g DMS BOV question.

If only the search accepted such small terms. I can't get it to narrow down stuff enough to what I need. Sorry.

I just got my SMALL *** turbo last night and I cleaned it up a little with some degreaser ( bad bad dizzyness from the fumes. ). The wastegate actuator ( that long thin pole thing ) is REALLY hard to pull for one thing, so i'm not sure if that's going to control my boost enough.

Here's the questions:

a) How do I manipulate that wastegate to turn my boost up and down manually?

b) What the hell is that black ugly arm thing that looks like a bendy straw with a flange on the end?

c) Which bolts do I undo to turn my turbo so it faces down towards the ground when I mount it. Can't figure it out for the life of me. I think it was that degreaser that was making my head spin.

Any info on the 14b would be nice too. Didnt have any shaft play, normal oil and stuff around the actuator and on the turbo, nothing big. The fans aren't chipped at all, housing isn't cracked, and the blades spin easy as hell. All around good turbo.

On the BOV.. how do I get that ugly black cover off to expose what's beneath. That thing looks mad weird. Thinking about getting a TURBOxs RFL.. but that'll be future.

a. A MBC will bleed air *around* the wastegate actuator to cause it to open at a later boost level. The lowest boost you can run with that actuator is 9 psi.

b. Oil drain tube. Keep the flange and weld a fitting on it.

c. You undo the circlip ring on the compressor. However, I think it is pinned on their and can't be roated. PM me if you *really* can't figure it out. I have a 14b laying around that I could look at real quick. I'd suggest going to http://www.vfaq.com and looking up "turbo rebuild" and i'll show you exactly how to take it apart.

14b's are very under rated turbos. They have been known to pull low 12's at over 110 with the correct supporting mods in dsm's. I had one that I accidently killed and I loved it. You can make an easy 250whp with one, and 300whp if you support it nicely.

I had my 14b installed by a professional and he just bent the mount for the wastegate actuator and it made 8psi on the first run. Try the guys at homemadeturbo.com for more info thats where I got all my info.
