Default Driving hard and now worried

today i took a right turn going down hill very hard. i was in second gear and my foot completely off the clutch. while i was turning i heard a very loud grinding sound and a funky smell after. first thought it was my tire rubbing on the fender lining. got out of the car and there seems to be no physical evidence my tire rubbed on the fender or fender lining. what could it have been? my lsd? my transmission, my clutch? any light would help.

look in your engine, do you see a lot of black grease around the axle area? like on the firewall and motor.

The grease aka mud looking stuff will tell you if it's your axles/cv boots.

dood, the car is not made out of tofu. I highly doubt you have a torn boot. If you were in gear and just taking a turn hard...i dont see why you are concerned?

Why don't you check the insides of your tire? Sometimes the insides rub and burn up a bit.

BTW what kind of smell did you smell? Tire smell?

I have never heard of a smell associated with a messed up axle/cv boot....unless grease is getting on your rotor or caliper.

1 hard turn won't do much damage, consider there are a lot guys here took X number of hard turns and the R still running strong.

but then, there is nothing wrong to be careful and check.

Blind guess - would you by any chance ran over something on the road?

its probably not transmission related.. can you give a bit more description on how fast? what gear? and were you on full throttle? what kind of turn 45deg? stock or after markte tires/supsension and was your steering at full lock? and more descriptoin on griding noise.. damn thats a lot of questions.. but details may narrow down the problem..

dont know exactly how fast but i was in 2nd gear, my rpm was around 5k-6k (so that should be able to determine speed) the turn was a U turn going right. steering wheel was about 3/4 turned. there was a smell that smelled like clutch and some tire.

Guys correct me if im wrong, but could he have somehow rolled the sidewall of the tire completely over and hit his rim on the pavement(mine made a funky noise when it was low on air once)? I dont know if that could explain the smell though(maybe the tire was pinched?).
