Default :: routine checks - what does everyone check? ::

i was just wondering what everyone does for daily/weekly check on their forced induction motors. here is what i look at on a regular basis:

- oil level
- spark plugs
- vacuum lines
- ic piping
- and then i look for anything out of the ordinary

so what do you look for? anything else i should check? thanks h-t!!

every time i go to get in my car i just glance under the engine bay on the ground for puddles, and make sure my tires arent flat.

let it warm up and beat the **** out of it till im ready to stop.

once a week i would end up checking oil levels, checking for any rubbing on coolant/oil/drain lines and loose bolts, and of course for anything looking suspicious.

oi level
coolant level
vacuum lines/fittings
exhaust bolts
any leaks
brake/clutch fluid
spark plugs and wires
just about every other day i check all of those things, and just look around, for anything that doesnt look right. i'd rather be safe than sorry.

I was super **** with the Civic. About every other day I'd check the plugs, oil, coolant. Then about every 2 weeks or after a hard pounding I'd give it a compression check.

Yea it may be obsessive, but chances are if you catch a problem early enough, you can stave off disaster!

Do you guys do all the things the helms says under service schedule? ie. inspect suspension, driveshaft, boots, lube hinges and locks etc. I am about to do my 75k service so I can save $200+ and was wondering how neccesary it is and what everyone else does.

yea tire pressure cuz it'll prob be low when u least expect it
all fluids under the hood every coupla weeks along with spark plugs and wires
floor for any leaks, return line for any drips.
compression every 3 weeks to a month

other maintanance stuff i do quickly wenever i'm already under the car and am stuck on a stubborn bolt or nut and need a break. (which is alot more frequently than the manual asks for)

when you check your coolant/overflow, what exactly are you looking for?

WHen checking the overflow, you make sure it's in between the min and max lines.

since i just got a wideband, ill just use it fr tuning, but if you have acess to one, or can pay someone like 10$ just for a few WOT runs, it couldnt hurt, mayber an injector could start clogging up, or fuel pump dying etc
