my oil filter wrench seems to work fine. lefty loosey righty tighty. jack it up and put a jackstand under the front crossmember and block the back wheels. give yourself enough room to see what your doing!

Put the jack stand under the sides, not the cross member. Its a tight fit on some cars, on mine I can take it off from the top, others I can barely get a wrench in there. Once you do loosen it and put the new one on, don't make it so tight.

Be sure and lube the gasket, hand tighten only, and check for leaks. If you tightened it correctly, you won't need the wrench next time.

Yep, you might want to try to get a good grip on it before you start working with any oil. So your hands are clean, or sand paper always helps.

Or there's always the screwdriver method!

Yeah thats what I have/use and they are great change the filters on every car I own and plus they even fit around my big *** F-350's oil filters!!
I also agree that the belt ones suck I was just trying to get the fuel filter off of my Ford with one and I broke it in 2 luckily it came with 2 of them and the second one just barely held for me to get it off!!
