Default M80 explosions / nitrous oxide accident aftermath please help

dear sirs,
it has been 2 months since i have visited the dragstrip please help.
i posted a question relating to this in my vehicle specific forum but alas i still have a problem.
the past:
after smoking the clutch in indiana a new one+flywheel was put in. first pass at us131 n michigan disaster..... (zex 75 shot) at the light i launched around 22k and BOOOM. let off got in BAAAM PUUUHHH. scared as hell i let off and coasted with engine light on and a funny bumping noise. then FWOOSH. part of the fender lining flied off . great engine goes off.. pangs of panick. turned it back on and coasted back to pits. pop hood hmmm.. cold air portion of intake not hooked up. on further inspection fender lining blown clean off. k&n filter looks like balloon. ripped in seam gaping. ^%$^%$. watched a super 02 vette run 6.99 at 197 and pray i make it home. ++weird the car ran like butter on the highway.

got home... 2 spark plugs look like someone took a hammer to them. one looks like a plasma gun got to it. ^%$%

the present:
fearing valve damage piston destruction etc. etc. it was a bit of relief to have the car diagnosed as good on compression and leakeage. map sensor was changed as that's what the scanner said. then bumping idle. have checked tps, coolant level, vacuum, changed ecu changed map sensor.
still at warm idle bumps from1100-1800k. car runs well besides engine light and bumping idle

if anyone has any type of advise or suggestion for this i would most definitely be in debt. this is for a 1996 f22b2 manual. thank you,

regards,
m.a.d.

sounds like a nitrous backfire. I had one a year or so ago. Have you checked the throttle plate? Most times it will bend it out if you are not at full throttle like if you were between a shift or something. Good luck

for sure backfire with alittle bit of pre-ignition i think which i think is what melted one plug.
i removed the throttle body cleaned and inspected it. looks well. checked idle valve underneath too look fine voltages test well.
any other ideas would be super appreciated as it's loking right now i might have to start replacing parts one by one because no one knows what's wrong.
thank you,
m.a.d.

more than likely it has damaged the idle air control valve.

thanks for the support guys
it's dry and it's plummed into the factory iceman location abaut 6 or so inched from tb.
i have the iacv on my desk. as i peek through the hole without the mesh screen i see what looks like plastic flaps they are not even however. one is crooked and they are not lined up straight. is this repairable or do i need a new one. if so can you guys recommend a place to get it. i don't feel like getting ^$^^& at the dealership today. i am also going to clean up the egr ports just in case.

thank a bunch people

my buddies b16 nitrous back fired...had to have both idle control, map, and a new TB. It taco'd the butterfly ever so slightly. It was his own dumb fault. He sprayed it off the line and it was spinning like mad and he let off of it and floored it again and it stacked nitrous in the intake.

grocerygetter, this backfire was also my fault. i replaced map already. i am going to have to buty an iacv and i hope tb not because i took it out cleaned it looks good no sticking etc. $220 at dealer. pops can maybe do it for 200.
i'll call the good old boys at hap recycling to see if they have one. just wondering if anyone knows a good source to get these for a bit less.
the iceman header had a pre-built boss that's why it's about 6". zex says between 6-18. never had a problem for 2 years so i don't think it was an atomization issue.

I'm trying to figure out how you had a nitrous backfire when there shouldn't have been any fuel puddling since you are running a dry kit. When did you start spraying?

Wierd. How tight is that nozzle screwed into your intake? You said you have an Iceman, right? Did it shoot backwards towards the filter?

tip to all laughing gas users.
DONT use platinum plugs. always check the condition of you're spark plugs before a meet and let off quickly if something does not feel right.

further away, better distribution.

I spray right from the launch, which is at 7000-7800 rpms depending on traction

I don't do a full powershift on the juice, but it barely gets a chance to shut off.

A fast 3-4 shift = smokimg clutch. It is preventing me from running 12's right now.

13.09 @ 103 on stock injectors
13.40 @ 103 mph on Ford redtops, clutch slipping at launch (soft 60 foot times) and from 1/2 track on in 4th gear.

Gotta give the used Centerforce DF credit, the tach stayed at 6600 rpm in 4th gear, but car kept pulling rather nicely. It still hooks just fine for NA runs.
