CEL Code 3, MAP Sensor, car dies and weird low rpms throttle response.
The first time it came out was when I downshift from 5th to 4th gear, no misshift or anything, just went into low VTEC to pick up some speed on highway. It came out right after I went into fourth.
We read the code and reset ECU and it was gone. 1 week later, during an autox run, it came back on. Uptill this point, my car still drives fine, idles good but seems to rev up slower.
Today, I was in 2nd gear VTEC and it feels weird, after I came to a stop, the car dies off on me, I restart it and the rpm goes down again. I have to rev it for a minute to have it idle properly. Ever since that, throttle response in low rpm of any gear seems hesitating and my exhaust smells pretty bad as if I am running a test pipe.
Is my engine ok? Is it running rich? I plan to have the vacuum lines checked and have the sensor replaced, is there any other possibilities?

Code 3 means you have high vacum.
Check the voltage between terminals 1 and 2 (left to right looking at sensor, key on position). Should be 5 volts, then check for continuity between terminal 3 and a body ground. I dont think you can check for amount of vacum without a scanner??
Just for reference since your gonna change it anyway, yeah just change the sensor. When you put it on make sure it seats correctly.

no need to...his problem was fixed by cleaning out the back side of the throttlebody plate...no more CEL

If your car is throwing a code 3 constantly, simply check your map sensor via the helms manual and a multimeter.
If you have a vafc or some kind of hack installed into your harness, check the wiring
