Default jackstands or ramps?

which do you guys use to work under you car.

i bought a floor jack and some jack stands last night and cant find a good place to jack the car up, if i use the the jacking points to jack up the car i cant put the stands there, i cant find any other "proper" place to put the damn jack.

i think i may go buy some ramps.

I put the jack under the front crossmember and jack it up there, then place the jack stands right behind the front wheels. Hope that helps.

Well I tryed my ramps on my crx and the Si spoiler would hit before the tire would,it would work however if I use a 2by4 or 2by8 to raise the car a little higher to start it up the ramp.... But if need to remove the tires you can't........
When I use my jack stands I jack up the car from the jack points on the side (with a service jack)and place the stands under the tow hooks. If you look under the front bumper you will see them, there is one on each side and the straight tow hook fits perfect in the channel of the jack stand post. and just for safety I place the ramps under the jack points incase it comes off the stands. Luckly my ramps is a two peice and I am able to remove the ramp part and use a just a stand the tires sit on..Hope this helps...............

If your jack doesn't go high enough (which I think is the problem you are encountering), get a piece of wood (like a 2x4) and put that on the jack saddle. Then jack unnder the rear tow hook and you jack stands should fit. This works for 2 ton jack stands.

HTH.

the tow hook in the middle?

i was wary of putting it there but if it can be done then good,

i am using a hydraulic jack and 3 ton jackstands, but it should still work.

i have my uncles ramps just in case,

thanks for the replies
