Good radio ..to get some good sound quality out of Stock Type R speakers
Well..unfortunately..I am having NO luck finding a Type R radio/cd player for sale. So I am forced to buy an aftermarket cd player.
What i wanna know is...what stereo have you guys had experience with..where you got sound quality improvments while maintaining the stock type R speakers.
I wanna a stereo by this weekend!!
Any info ..is much appreciated

aftermarket stereo + stock type r speakers = ****
i tried that and i didn't like it. the stock speakers can't handle the power of an aftermarket radio.

the stock speakers blow...i replaced mine with MB Quart mids and highs (so so fitment, no perfect but will do the job) and stock head unit. Sounds great!
I wouldnt get anything crazy, especially if you plan to use the stock speakers. I used to have a Pioneer 4100 and it was nice enough for my tastes. Then it got stolen, along with the rest of my interior.
FYI, did you know that a new stock ITR radio costs over $900

Let me tell you that the R's music weakness is not neccessarily the radio but, most certainly those crap assed speakers.
I'm by far not up on current car stereos (so someone else with more knowledge can school you) but, if you got some that were more efficient (and fit into the stock places) and maybe even then got a decent Amp, you'd have better sound.
The first thing you should do when shopping for any stereo home or car is consider the speakers and listen to them, many of them. Funny enough many different speakers actually will sound different and for certain the stock R/Integra speakers suck donkey ballz.
Good luck, there must be a good speaker that will fit in the stock location.

I have bottom-of-the-line 3.5's and 6x9's in my wagon, with a 10-inch OLD sub. And that sounds soo much better than my Hype R did.
Keep the head unit (well, not in your case, since you can't find one
), and spend a couple hundred bean on speakers.

I think Im pushing towards buying some aftermarket speakers. It just always seems like when you buy an aftermarket radio and speakers..the treble sounds better..however you lose the bass..and equal sound the stock system gives you.

The biggest improvement will come with a new head unit. Eventually I replaced the stock speakers as well, and now it sounds great.... given it is an integra anyway.

Did you listen to the speakers before you bought them? Just curious...
Separates would help that, unless you're willing to throw a small sub into the mix.

I am actually gonna just take everything out eventually and finally use my old honda radio blocker from my old CRX. Less to lose if my car gets stolen.
I am prepping myself for a boring *** commute though.

I just blew my stock speakers... grr... I have a spare set and a set of older Rockford Power Series 5 1/4 and 6 1/2's that I may run from my 91 Si.

Some Boston Acoustics drivers came in my R when I bought it. Loads better than the stock cr@p, even with the stock head unit and stock speaker mountings (mounted in plastic = not high end sound). I have plenty of bass. Plenty of sizes available to fit the stock mounts.
If you really need, I can pop the bezels off and see which models are in there. It works so I never bothered to look.
