Default Secondary O2 sensor removal

96 LX

I crawl under the car to take out the secondary O2 sensor out of the cat. I remove the heat shield's lower half. the top half of the heat shield can't be removed without removing the cat fine. I stick my O2 socket, no clearnace. I take an open end wrench no clearance. I pissed...

the only way to remove the secondary O2 sensor is to remove the cat! Tell me that ain't true!

From reading posts, it appears the secondary O2 sensor does nothing in controlling the air/fuel mixture. It just monitors the cat to see if it's still good. If that is the case, I was thinking of applying this mod,

so what do you all think? If it's not hard to get the cat out, I'd do it.. but it looks tough.

I had to take off my cat to replace my secondary O2 sensor. It was siezed in the threads and I needed more room to work to get it out. Taking the cat on and off isn't difficult unless your exhaust bolts are seized up. Some liquid wrench and muscle will break them loose. Good Luck!
