O2 sensor location on 96 Civic? Did my research..need help.
I need to replace the secondary O2 sensor in my 96 Civic.
It is located on the catalytic converter. Is there a way to get to it from above inside the cabin. Apparently I cannot use the O2 socket since it is between the cat and the floor board. It is a very tight fit. I was told to remove the cat, but dont want to mess with such an expensive item.
thank you

By that logic, you shouldn't even be messing with the O2 sensor then...
If simply removing the catalytic converter from the car was going to break it, then it was well on its way out before then.

No, you can't get to the secondary o2 sensor from inside the cabin
Yes, you can use the o2 sensor socket while the o2 sensor is on the cat
Yes, you can remove the secondary o2 from the cat without removing the cat from the exhaust system

What I meant to say was that I did not want to remove the cat just to get to the O2 sensor.
So, it appears there may be a socket different from what I have. My socket is a 3.5 inch to remove the O2 sensor. I will look for a different socket then.
I am, however, disappointed that I cannot get it from the inside cabin.
thanks all.

For those of you shopping around.
Purchased my O2 sensor from OxygenSensor.com. He was the cheapest around. The next cheapest was Napa, but OxygenSensor delivered for free. Hollywood Honda was $150 more. Heck, my usual place...hondaautomotiveparts.com was $80 more. Oh, dont buy the three piece tool set from OxygenSensor.com. You can get the exact same tool set from autozone for $14.99 - same brand. OxygenSensor.com advertises here. However, he does not pay this site. Honda-Tech advertises for him as a service to it's members....me! Thank you HT.
Best thing is to shop around. My brother said OxygenSensor was the most expensive for his Volvo. He found his at autohauz.com which was $40 less.

Update; I had a bad experience from Oygensensor.com. He kept sending me the wrong part. In addition, he gave me a difficult time returning the parts. Furthermore, he did not compensate me for returning the part (shipping). In sort, I got screwed and didn't get the job done.
My worse experience ordering online. You can judge for yourself, but dont say you had no clue.
As I mentioned below, dont think Oxygensensor.com supports this website. They dont pay advertising fees to Honda-tech.
Oh, I picked up a three piece tool set from autozone to remove the O2 sensor. Works great. Now, off to Napa to purchase my secondary O2 sensor.
