how do i know if i have bent valves?
after the last time i turned my motor off, there was a repetitive clicking sound for about three seconds. i guessing my valves are bent. any advice would be appreciated. thanks.
in case you didn't knkow valves just dont bent (don't take offence)..... they have to be over revved or come into contact with something, so unless you did one of theose things i dont think they are bent. To see if you have bent valves you can do a leak down test and that will tell u!
good luck man!

a compression test will give you a good idea, but symptoms of a bent valve are rough idle, difficulty increasing rmps, poor running, excessive gas consumption. not however that one of these symptoms does not mean you have bent valves.
if you are getting a lot of noise from the valves, you should do a valve lash adjustment on a cold engine first.

I doubt it, maybe you didn't put enough oil in? did u read your manual? Vavles maybe sticky from not having enough oil. Makes a ticking sound at idle. Is it still making this noise when you start it up?
just do a leakdown. that will tell you the compression AND if something is fucked up. it sounds like you just need a vlave adjustment.

click sounds coming from head?
Welcome to H series.
Check your oil.

running the car with no headers will not hurt anything unless you cause something to catch fire. it just looks really cool
i'm not sure what engine/year car you have, but i'd say most likely you just need a valve adjustment. if you have a 96 and newer car, and you bent valves, odds are the engine light would come up as OBDII would pick up something fishy

i just got done replacing an old, cracked oil pan gasket and filled the car up with new oil. i know there's enough oil in there. it's a '94 vtec motor, can you think of anything else. i heard the sound after the car was turned off, and maybe once while the car was just sitting there idling. while the car was idling it lasted maybe two seconds, but was loud enough to be heard across my street. it then went away and the idle was normal again. can you think of anything else besides low oil? thanks.
