Default Worthwhile going to OBD1? Story inside..

Quick story!

Raced an OBD1 GSR last night for the first time since I got my 99..

ME: 99 GSR - Bone stock w/ PASSENGER weighing in at about 160 - I'm a big guy, 6 ft, 231.. bout 30 pounds worth of stuff in the back so I know my car was weighing in at about at least 3k

Him: 95 GSR - "Bone stock" so he says , no passenger, probably weighed 170 himself..

We went from a stop. Twice. Both times he pulled about a car on me.. What got me was how much faster his gears seemed than mine.. Reason I don't think he was stock was because he kept saying how he couldn't believe I was stock and only lost to him by a car with a passenger because he usually 'walks' OBD2 GSRS much harder.. so I was like.. whatever..

I've owned a 94 GSR with 157k miles that dynoed at 151whp/119 torque STOCK - I know they're strong as **** but can it make that big a difference? Should I convert my 99 to OBD1? Just a harness and ECU is all I need right??

Yup, conversion harness and ECU is all you need. If you can get them both at good deals then i say go for it. I converted my ECU and chipped it and I noticed a big difference (at least on the butt dyno ). My car seems to pull hard all the way to redline. And it just feels stronger. Maybe the chip helped a lot, but either way, it was worth it (i got a REALLY good deal on the ECU).

I have both the conversion harness and a chipped P28 ecu if you are interested.
