Default rough start for R&D kar at hyperfest?!

I got a call from chad this afternoon saying that while on the way to charlotte, the car started having some problems and needs a new bottom end i believe... didn't gather what exactly had happened as the phone call was kinda staticy.

man... i'm gonna be really upset if chad doesn't get to run lowes... he's had the worst luck this year.

Hunter - who's headed down first thing sat. morn to see if he can lend a hand

update... they got a new engine put back together this morning... missed qualifying... had to start from the back of the pack. they got to dyno right before the race and actually put down some purty good number.

however... more bad luck... lap 3 (i believe chad said) engine is holding together fine... shift linkage goes... chad sits in turn 1 for the remainder of the race...

so their gonna fix that tonite/tomorrow morn... and give it another shot sunday. if any of you guys are gonna be there tomorrow, stop by and give chad a little encouragement. he's gotta be getting tired of these problems

I was there all day. Fun stuff.

Wrist pin in #3 backed out & scored the wall about 4mm deep. I just gave them that block & it is needing re-sleeving already.

Was a good day for others, though.

See everyone out there tommorow. I will be trying to get in some seat time without adding any more speed wrinkles.

UPDATE:
We all went home last night and decided to fix it this morning. Get to the track, fix the shift linkage (stabilizer fell out) and try to start the car. BATTERY DEAD. HOW this happens? Nobody knows. WE get it started, let it idle for a while to get a charge and go out for practice.

Chad goes out to practice, three laps in, theres smoke and oil... Chad pulls into the piit, and immediately Dave notices that there is a puddle of oil from when it was idleing. Look up and the Oil filter gaket blew out. Jeez. Luck, eh? Put a new oil filter on, and then we go to BPS (Thats Bass Pro Shops for those that aren't with it ). Come back for qualifying and Chad is getting a line as he hadn't been out there all weekend. He starts pulling hard and running the ***** off the race kaa.

Lap 7, Uh oh.... There is a knocking...Guess what, its a spun rod bearing... Decisions. It is now 2:45 and the race is at 4:30...Can we fix it? Well we can, but didn't have the resources too, as it is a Sunday...Pull the Spark Plug and injector clip. Push the car to the pits. Chad ran from Start Finish To Start Finish, in EXTREME Limp Mode. It only took 2:39 or so...

Long story short, The team got some points this weekend and thats what matters.

Hope everyone else had just as much fun as we did.
