ECU / Boost Contollers / confusion.
Ok. Through the recommendation of a source that I trust (jinxproof), I am going to sell my hondata and p72 and buy a Motec to run my car.
Jinx said that this is probably the best and most accurate way to tune and run my car. But my question is
1) How should I control boost?
2) Is the motec really worth the money? Will it easily outperform my hondata 2b?

1. With motec, you have the option or it may be standard depending on the model, for a boost control solenoid. It works just like a normal boost controller, it controls boost by controlling the wastegate pressure. With all boost controller like Greddy, Apexi, Blitz, even Manual Boost controller, youhave to have solenoid, that sends vaccum/pressure signal to the wastegate telling it to open or close. Same thing with the motec, but you have the ability to control it with your laptop.
2. Motec and Hondata is like comparing Jaguar and Honda, Both will get you to places, both can be fast, but Jaguar offers more options and features and Honda doesn't have. Both have advantages and disadvantages, both will give you controls of your motor, but Motec give you more options to control. I believe it is an overkill for street setup, but again, you could never have too much control. If I have the $$, I'd go Motec, but Hondata does the job just fine for me.
My suggestion, go with whatever your tuner of choice is comfortable with, hondata and motec are known in the past to be reliable and makes HP with the right touch of a good tuner. The only drawback I see, hondata will not let you run any higher than 3 bar map sensor, so , with hondata, your boost limit is limited to 29 Psi.

Well, jinx said with the motec and the laptop that I wont need my upteen million gauges.
See I was going to buy a AVCR to go with my hondata, and have my gauges for everything under the sun.
Jinx said with the motec I could get away with oilpressure gauge and egt and then let the motec control the rest.
If controlling the boost is fairly easy (touch of a button) with the motec then i will probably go with that.
