Default What compression to use for Stage 1 JRSC

What compression pistons should I use if I am going to put on a JRSC stage 1? I plan on going to stage 2, but that will be a little while down the road.... Couple years... The motor is D16A6 with basic bolt-ons, and soon to be port and polish. My main problem is money... I am strongly considering ZC (D16a8/9 or even D16A1 86-89 teg). I don't know the C/R's off hand, but I think ZC is high 10 or low 11-1. Would this be too much compression for 4 psi, even with gaskets? What would you recommend?

I have a 00 si with a JRSC pullin 10 psi on factory compression which is 10.8:1 i dont think you should have a problem running 4psi on a motor with similar compression even if it is a SOCH.

If you plan to go to around 10 PSI at some point I would shoot for around 10/1 to 10.5/1 the JRSC with proper engine management should handle that just fine. The thing to know is, the JRSC kit HATES high intake tamperatures. It just kills the performance, even at low boost levels. You really need some form of engine management to richen up the fuel to combat this. Water/methanol injection or small hits of nitrous work really well also (both cool the intake air really effectively).

Right on. Thanks for the help and the tips. I have a custom intake and heat sheilds in the works (muffler shop and sheet metal shop), but I'll look into other ways of cooling too. Thanks again.
