water pump help please
i am tryin to replace my water pump. I need to know how to keep the wheel in place while i loosen the nut. http://www.cardomain.com/membe...06931 go there for a diagram and so you know what im talkin about
youre gonna need an impact wrench. If you dont have one take off all the plastic gaurds and take your car down to a service shop or somewhere and ask if they have a impact wrench to take it off. You wont have to take off the wheel, you just need to jack up the car a little bit to fit the wrench inside to take off the nut. Also, do the timing belt while you are at it
my impact is a POS. what you might have to do is get someone to sit in the car and apply the brakes. then get a braker bar and dead blow hammer with an extension to clear the fender. enough pounding should free it up
That is the most ghetto diagram I've ever seen. Plus its called an Alternator, not Altinator. And technically its a cam gear, not a wheel.
The thing you are trying to get off is called a Crank Pulley, and the thing holding it is a 17mm bolt. Buy/borrow/rent/steal a good Impact Wrench. Every other method of getting it off is a waste of time. My Impact took my Crank Pulley bolt off in literally less than a second.
