I say ripped off. only about 100 dollars in parts for a new oem water pump and timing belt. Then again, having a shop do anything can get awfully pricey and if they aren't familiar with Honda's, it may have taken them a while. Why didn't you do it yourself? not a very difficult job...

for 500 dollars, you could have had got a friend/relative to help, bought tools, a jack and finished the job. Everybody starts some where though. Get yourself some basic wrenches, jack, and etc so you can start learning
