Ticking noise when reving??
So I have a 2001 ITR and I have around 90,000 miles. Well, a couple of days ago I was low on oil which caused vtec not to come on. So I put in some oil to the normal level. Since then I have been in vtec about 3 times total.
The night before I could here a slight ticking noise as I past people or objects on the road but it sounded like something was rattling. It only happens when I push the gas pedal. Anyway last night right before I reached my house I hit vtec in every gear through 3rd just to have a little last fun for the night. When I turn on my street the ticking was very loud as I was accelerating.
I took my car in for its 60,000 mile service around 63,000 miles. They did a valve adjustment and everything else that is done at that time. I haven't done anything since then except change the oil every 2,500 miles and put gas in it.
I have noticed my car has burned oil more/quicker than ever. I don't auto-x, road race, or drag race my car so it isn't that. Can anyone give me an idea about the ticking and if the increased oil consumption has anything to do with it. All help is appreciated since this is my only means of transportation and I need my car on Tuesday for work.

I was thinking it might be a valve adjustment since I haven't had one in a while. What boggles me is that it can get from barley noticeable to very loud with just one romp through vtec.

Well I got the car with 47,000 miles almost a year ago. It is my only transportation and I drive about 80 miles a day plus some cruising and going out. I live in a small town and there is really nothing to do here so we drive to another city about 20 miles away. It is alot of miles but I love every minute of it.

Yeah, I am going to take it to a local shop that only works on Honda's on Monday. Do you think it is wise to drive it to the shop? Its about 18 miles away. I checked the oil and it is still fine.

Well I tried to drive the car to the shop to get it looked at. Needless to say I don't think it was a very good idea. I almost get there and the knocking gets louder and more consistent. Instead of only doing it when on the gas it did it the whole time. About a mile later the engine died and I coasted off the interstate and on to a sideroad. I tried to start it and it would start but just sounded like it was just falling apart.
Now if you look in my sig you can tell I have alot of miles. Of course I drive my car hard SOMETIMES but who here can tell me they don't. With my car having so many miles but still within my extended warranty do you think I would have a hard time getting them to warranty the engine? I have all the oil change receipts and the one for the 60,000 mile service which was done at a Acura dealership. That is all I have had to do since I had it. I may have ran a little low on oil but If I am low I don't get on it at all and I shift at a low rpm until I get more oil in there.

If your VTEC didn't engage due to low oil level, chances are you've scorched your bearings and/or valvetrain
Your best bet is to bring your car to the dealership and have it inspected.
