Final Mods, due to being dicked too many times....need some opinions/wisdom/info..
Well the last shop that dicked me on my engine forgot 3 dowls and had 3 loose headbolts (costing me a SHITload of $$ to fix right now for a headgasket, sending the head to a machine shop..etc), so I think im getting a header, full exhaust, and possibly a hondata S100 (this is my question)..and calling it quits as far as the honda aftermarket goes. I am a college kid with little money and have been screwed over too many times. Would my setup benefit from a hondata? Would it make it more reliable?
thanks for ANY input you can give me.

The best mod you can make is buying a Helms and reading. Don't be afraid to work on your engine and know it's done right
Hondata is one of the most powerful tuning tools out. Go for it

Yeah, it is definately time to start working on your own car. How fast do you want to go? Are you still running the low compression bottom end?
i wanna START with mid-high 13's on street tires, and If im gunna start working on my own car, would it be advisable to get a cheap daily driver?
thanks guys,
mike
p.s. kris, hows AL?

A reliable daily driver is a very good idea.
How fast do you want to go once you are done with the car? Do you want to stay NA, add a bit of spray later, or go turbo? Once you figure that out build the bottom end to handle the amount of power that you desire and put in the correct compression pistons. Then get your bolt-ons or turbo set up. Finally do the head and cams.
If you are going to go NA just get a VAFC for now and pick up Hondata or whatever EMS you want when you are done with the motor.
Arkansas has fine girls, hot weather, and shitty cars. I've got a decent job and spend an hour or more at the gym every weekday, so I'm happy. My ******* landlord did try to evict me for having a shortblock and engine stand in my apartment though. Crazy bitch.

forgot to post my goals:
consistant mid-high 12's, NITROUS beast...
im thinking my compression is good for this (*i know with tuning high compression isn't a big deal...but for me its an extra safeguard)
now, i believe my bottom end SHOULD be good stock, i need to work out tuning/nitrous kit options now (and kris, u can help with that im sure
)
anyone else with input would be appreciated
(btw: are the b20 sleeves gunna be a problem?)

So far I've learned that it takes a long time to save up enough money for parts and tools.
Do you want mid 12s on slicks or street tires(ie. BFG drag radials)?
With the low compression that you are running cams won't do much for you. So basically, you're looking at running your current motor, which is probably getting you to 14.5s and alot of spray. You can't spray enough on that stock bottom end to get you to 12s on street tires. And take it from me, having a quick car on the bottle and a slow one off the bottle sucks. Build a 13 second motor and then spray into the 12s. Shoot me a PM when you see this. Since you want to know what your options are for spraying this post won't serve much purpose in the NA forum.
