not getting spark....wiring problem
ok, i had a d16a6 then i put in a zc so i cut my distributor engine harness. now i am back to a mini me using the stock si distributor and i cut the harness off the distributor and tied the wires to gether matching colors the best i could. the only one i seemed to have problems with was the white and the white w/red stripe. i guess the red stripe got faded over the last 13 years. i tried switching the two wires with the same results. i actually got it to turn over with one setup but it died. btw this is on a newly rebuilt engine. thanks guys
Did you used to have the DX dizzy? Otherwise I dont understand why you would want to cut the wires for the dizzy cause they all have the same plugs.... well unless you had to use a different dizzy for the minime... At any rate, keep switching wires till you get some spark. Thats what I did when I did my DPFI-MPFI....

no, i've always had mpfi. my grounds looked good, the distributor coil looks brand new but the rotor and cap don't look great. i know this is never the case but i might as well try and change them out.
I would try color matching up the best you can, if you cant really tell, guess, you can always change em again. I put connectors on my wires when I was doing the DPFI-MPFI so I could change em real quick if that preticular setup wouldnt spark for me... BTW your turbo setup looks tight....

my distributor is extremely hot to the touch.....i can smell burnt plastic too but that could be from starting it so many times.

blaze.....thanks, the turbos not doing to much good with the engine not starting though...haha. so with switching the wires around i shouldn't have burnt up anything right, or could i have? thanks
Well I didnt burn ne thing up and believe me, I had everywitch wire switched around.... Just makes for a long process of elimination... Do you have a base tune for your motor? Whoa didnt read the last post... burnt plastic? I only switched the wires on the outiside of the dizzy.... Are you sure that your rotor is on tight? Sounds like its loose and your burning it up maybe? How long you been trying to start it?

thanks for the help......i replaced the cap and rotor and it started right up. next problem timing. it wont idle, it just dies......and lord does she smoke, but thats expected with a rebuild.
Well you got to break in the rings dude... dont let it idle or get any boost yet!!!! I know the rings SHOULD NOT be left @ idle for break in, they need to seat properly.... MAKE SURE THAT THEY SEAT!!! Glad you got it fixed...
