Default what headgasket?

heres what im looking for. i have a drag III turbo kit and ive been running 5-7 psi for a few months now and im looking to run about 10 psi on stock internals. ive heard of many people doing this with a thicker headgasket. what do you guys suggest going with? im still researching trying to figure out what is best, but would like to hear some opinions from some of the other boosted guys, or anyone that knows head gaskets.

i will also be running 450cc injectors, VAFC hack, walbro intank feul pump, and a few other things.

thanks in advance.

Thicker head gasket will lower your compression SLIGHTLY, therefore, theoretically you could run SLIGHTLY more boost. However, Ive heard that a thicker gasket can become a weakpoint and more likely to blow the gasket. Also I dont think the stock internals are going to be able to handle 10psi for very long, especially if you drive the car hard...

just my 2 cents

If you get a thicker headgasket, you'll want to get cam gears. If you are going to do it right the first time, make sure you don't skimp on the necessary parts.

You'll be advancing your cam timing with a thicker headgasket, the same way you retard your cam timing with a thinner headgasket. Even better, leave the headgasket alone and make more appropriate changes.

I had a Cometic .043" gasket before. Seemed to work ok.

I would say just do the pistons and be done.

Check out Cometic head gaskets. They offer many different sizes.

yea i know doin the pistons and rods would be the best way, but is it worth forkin out the money if all i want to run is about 10 psi for strip use. on the streets ill be running 7 psi.

maybe ill look into the finances and see if i can afford getting the rods, pistons, injectors ect. ill let you guys know which route i take. thanks

RTWDC2 is correct that the thinner HG will be more susceptable to a leak/blowout because you're putting more distance between your head and block. Hiking up the boost certainly won't help matters either. If you want to run bigger boost, do it right. Forged rods, lower CR pistons, sleeved block, etc. for big boost and better reliability.
