Default Civic won't shift into Reverse

Hey everyone. I got a 93HB with a 2000 motor and tranny. Its been running fine but just recently it wont let me shift into Reverse. In fact I cant even put it into the reverse position. It feels like there is something locking it up or jamming it. Anyone have a clue wats going on. Thanks Everyone

mine is hard to get in reverse sometimes. when it jams up, i put it in first, then put it in reverse. that seems to work.

This tends to be a common problem with Hondas. In some cases your 4th to 5th synchro is mushroomed out which makes the shift fork bind when trying to shift into reverse. If this is the case you might need to replace your 4th to 5th synchro set which in parts will cost you a little over $100. Reverse does not have a synchro but to get to reverse you have to slide over the 4 to 5th synchro. So if that synchro is mushroomed out you will not be able to slide over it and you will not be able to engage reverse. Hope this helps. See if this helps at all.

I had problem in my 2000 gsr getting in 1st gear. FOund out i needed more Manual transmission fluid. Check that out. If its not that you might want to look into the shift linkage or transmission.

i have trouble with my reverse sometimes. I usually just put it into first and then move it back into reverse.

Ok, guys, that's great that you all have the same problem, but I think he wants to know what is wrong with his car. I hope my information helped. It could be a number of things. Check your fluid.
