Default figured out what is keeping me from getting oil sending unit off pic inside

ok i found out from c-speed racing site what is blocking my socket from fitting over the oil pressure sending unit on the back of my b18c1.. it appears that my b18c1 has an oil cooler that has a metal tube on it that is right near my oil sending unit. heres a pic to show u what im talkin about. i have never seen this on my type r motor or my b16 motor that is why i was baffled when i saw it on here. i was wondering if theres other people that had this same problem when trying to get their oil pressure sending unit off.. i am open to suggestions....

is it possible that that oil cooler can be loosened up and turned slightly so that the metal tube that is attached top it is moved away form teh sending unit? because it appears that the person that owned this motor before moved it or something. i was just wondering becasue on c-speeds site they showed them being able to remove it by loosing the main nut in the middle after u remove the oil filter so instead of removing it is it possible to just loosen it up and turn it slightly and then tighten it back down if i can then that will clear up a lot of room for me...

I had no problems getting the oil pressure sender out with the oil cooler in place. I just used a deep socket. B21 engine tho...

Hmmmm, not sure how that is blocking your sending unit. Here is a pic of my B18c1 and those metal lines are nowhere close to my sending unit. They must have rotated the cooler on your motor alot. Mine is mounted the way it should be with the metal lines pretty much at the 12 o'clock position.

Default rotating the oil cooler connection

As someone posted, there may be an alignment tab on the back that determines the way the unit sits. The unit on my son's civic has no tab and the lines come straight off (perpendicular) the block - we used remote filter location. You should be able to loosen or remove the center bolt and rotate or remove the whole plate as necessary.

NOW - someone please help me. My son is trying to remove the sending unit. He says he can't get the rubber cover off of it. I am at work so I can't have a look at it. Is there a trick to this?

Thanks,

Doug

i used a long small tip flat head screw driveer to lift the boot off the sending unit. also a set of long needle nose pliars will work too.
