Bolt stuck in turbo!

Well guys worse came to worse... I snapped one of the bolts in half and one half is stuck in the turbo! Installing downpipes is a bitch and now im not sure if i have to get the bolt machined off my turbo. I heard something about a v-band or some sort... does anyone have any ideas?

i wonder how that works... is it really "easy out"? sounds like an idea... ill look into that.. any other ideas out there though? dont wanna spend a couple of bills buying a new turbo... Anyone familiar with the v-band?

the easy out works by drilling into the bolt, then you have an appropriately sized tap that you screw down into the hole you drilled. then you used that to remove the bolt. easy.

yep just easy out it... super easy had to do on an oil pan once... also if you cant get it with an easy out and enuff of the bolt is sticking out try a pair of big vise grips but... i dunno there isnt much of the turbo sticking out there dre... good luck if you need help lemme know

something similar happened to my friend's car recently. he broke off the stud on the head to mount the exhaust manifold. we bought a bolt extractor and a drill bit that is the same size.
center punched the broken stud, drilled a hole on the stud, and extracted it out with the bolt extracting bit.

i did that some ****, i didnt have an easy out, so i removes the turbo and exhaust mani, then i took a dremel and cut across the broken bolt on the exhaust housing, tryin not to notch the housing,,,(use a small *** whell, or a worn wheel will do) then i simply used a flathead impact driver and got it out,,,,,,,viola!!!!! that **** really worked!! so give that a shot, i thought the easy out kit was pricey, thats why i did that,,,,,,,,good luck
yes, an easy out worked for me as well.
once in an old turbo, and again when i broke off a cam holder bolt.
just be sure to cover up the surrounding area with paper towels, or something to keep the shreds out of the turbo itself.

If the bolt broke off because it is seized you may have to heat it up to make the easyout useful. The last thing you want is a broken bolt with a broken easyout in the middle of it.
FWIW the guy that does my welding sometime actually welds a bolt onto broken bolts like that. Then he simply turns the new bolt and voila, it unscrews the borken bolt as well.

chuck it in a lathe or drill press even and drill that thing out, then get some nice arp bolts to put back in there.......... i went with a nut/bolt so they cant really break off inside ne thing anymore
