8.8 lb flywheel?
Before I install the b16a I am dropping in a new clutch and a lightened flywheel. I am getting a 6 puck ACT street clutch disk and an ACT extreme pressure plate.
Will a 8.8 lb flywheel be too light? I know a 8 lb flywheel negatively effects the inertia, but is it reasonable for a daily driver? Would I be better off with the 11 lb flywheel?
I am shooting for high 13's with bolt-ons and CTR cams in a 91 STD.
At what RPM do the CTR cams stop making power at?

lose torque, but gain hp up top. CTR cams can make power up close to (or past) 9k, but if you're running a stock valvetrain i wouldn't recommend bringing your rpm's above 8,200....even then you'll start smokin sooner or later.

I have the clutchmasters lightened flywheel I believe it is 8 or 9 pounds, can't remember right now. But yeah it performs very well. You will lose torque but who cares we drive hondas
. And you will get a funky idle from time to time, It will feel like the car is going to shut off but it won't so don't worry. Six punk clutch isn't that kind of extreme for your setup?

Thanks for the replies.
I'm not really concerned about losing torque, if I was interested in torque i wouldn't be getting a b16a.
I'm interested in top end power, but it looks like I will need to upgrade the valve train so I can utilize the full potential of the CTR cams or S2S2 cams. I wasn't expecting the CTR cams to make HP at 9k RPM.
I was thinking more like 8.3k or 8.5k.
The stock flywheel weighs 18 lbs in the b16.
I think it's a good clutch for my setup because I am getting the street application clutch disk and pressure plate. I was thinking the racing clutch would be too much.

8.8 pound act flywheel is the best modification i have made to my car, short of the jun 3 cams. once you learn how to launch with it, you will never want anything other than the lightest flywheel you can get.
What is all this talk about losing torque?
The lightened flywheel will make my revs drop and rise faster. I understand that the engine will be more responsive, but i dont understand how i would be losing torque.

lol! something that a wise racer once told me....."TORQUE GETS YOU THERE; HORSEPOWER KEEPS YOU THERE!"
hondas are torque deprived in the first place, so taking away torque from a allready handicapped curve, will do more harm than good.
personally, i wouldnt go below 10 lbs if using (or planing on using) slicks.
SIRWANABE.... when you dump the clutch w/ a (super) light flywheel the inertia that is spinning the crank will slow down faster than if you had more rotating mass (heavier flywheel). which in turn "boggs" the car up to 1000 (guesstimate) rpm. then the engine has to play "catch-up" to get back into the higher rpm range. but the lightened flywheel will improve throttle responce and bring your revs up quicker.
so it's a 6 and two 3's
all i'm saying is that, if you don't put some research and thought into building a sleeper, strip monster, fast d.d., you may as well through your $$$ out the window!
just my $.02
